"It's Not About Pretty" Girls Skate Jam Recap!

"It's Not About Pretty" Skate Jam Friday night was a success!  I was blown away by the amount of love and have never experienced so many girl skaters in the same place at one time. It was amazing meeting girls and families that traveled from South Florida, Georgia and all over the southeast. It was equally as exciting to have skate with women over 40 and girls under 5 years old!

I want to extend a huge thank you to Kona Skatepark for being so supportive and opening their doors for this event. I also want to thank all of the musicians, artists, photographers, volunteers, and companies that made the event possible. And lastly, a big thank you to everyone who attended!

I wish this many rad girls would come together like this every weekend at local skateparks. I hope this sparked some interest and connectivity in the community.

We had several amazing photographers capture the event, you can check out their galleries below. Feel free to download and share, please give credit and use #itsnotaboutpretty.

Until next time!

Zoe Herishen

You know it's going to be a good day when it starts with shooting someone that is half your size but shares the same amount of passion for skateboarding. Native to New York, Zoe is probably the coolest 10 year old I know. Her spring break lead her down the east coastline to a sunny spot in Jacksonville Beach. Below are the results of a morning spent together.

Skate Date with Element Women's

Simplicity with Chelsea Adams

Sometimes it is the most spontaneous photo sessions that truly capture the essence of a place and experience. I visited this location several times upon discovering and just knew I wanted to freeze it in time.

Heading out of the office on Friday, I threw on a hat and grabbed my skateboard to meet Chelsea. What I thought would feel like a last minute blur ended up bringing me back to life. Every feeling running through my body and brain. Every color, light and shadow that danced in front of my eyes. The cool breeze off the ocean and the warm concrete pressed against my hands. Every bit of it noted and taken in.

Captured results below.
